C30-M locomotive

The C30-M is designed for shunting and line service on 1520 mm gauge tracks. It has 1550 KW (2079 h. p.) diesel engine.

The C30-M upgraded diesel locomotive is a joint project between AS Operail and Czech company CZ Loko a.s. Locomotive is rebuilt and assembled in Operail’s Tapa depot, in Estonia. For assembly the main frame and bogies from original GE C30-7Ai locomotive are used, as well as modules supplied by CZ Loko.

The locomotive’s power unit consists of Caterpillar 3512CHD diesel engine and Siemens 1FC2 631-6 traction alternator.

The locomotive is fitted with:

  • A MSV microprocessor locomotive control system that controls all locomotive machinery
  • Spacious and safe shunter gangways
  • An electric dynamic brake (EDB)
  • An air dryer
  • A driver’s cab with air conditioning
  • A diagnostic system that provides the driver with information, collects data and sends it to information and service centres.
  • Global positioning system (GPS)
  • An optional remote control system
