Operail stops transporting Russian and Belarussian goods
The sole shareholder of AS Operail has decided that as of 1 January 2023, Operail is required to stop transporting goods originating from the Russian Federation and Belarus.
Consequently, starting from midnight on 1 January 2023, Operail will not accept for carriage any goods, the origin or destination of which is in the Russian Federation or Belarus or which are of Russian or Belarusian origin.
We will continue freight transport starting from or ending in other countries, provided that the goods do not originate from the Russian Federation or Belarus. To this end, we ask you to provide us with a document certifying the origin of the goods (certificate of origin) in a timely manner.
We will take this restriction into account when approving freight plans as follows:
- We reject requests for confirmation of January transport plans to Russia and Belarus.
- For goods arriving from or sent to third countries, even if in transit through Russia or Belarus, we ask for a certificate of origin to be submitte. If not submitted, we will refuse to approve the plans.
- Additional freight plans for December for goods from Russia and Belarus will be confirmed on the condition that the goods must have entered or left Estonia by 31 December 2022 at the latest.
The decision does not concern the cross-border return of empty wagons which have arrived in Estonia before the end of the freight operation.
We are willing to answer any further questions.
